Position: Marine Field Operative

Location: Travel within the UK & Ireland is essential (Shore based)

About XOCEAN

XOCEAN is an ocean data company – we collect data for clients ranging from mapping the seabed to monitoring the environment. However, we do this differently, instead of using conventional crewed survey ships, we have developed a marine robotic system known as an Uncrewed Surface Vessel (USV).

Overview

Responsible for supporting USV marine and shore based operations in the field

Main Duties & Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include:

  • Safe Transportation, Launch and Recovery of USVs at project locations.
  • Boarding support vessels to monitor USV movements and assist in equipment recovery
  • Assessment of environmental conditions for safe deployment of USVs and to aid project decision making
  • Compliance with, execution and promotion of Quality, Health and Safety standards during all aspects of daily tasks.
  • Participate/Lead in daily Toolbox talks.
  • Monitoring site tooling, equipment and consumables levels.
  • Upkeep of company vehicles, trailers, and cradles and facilities as required.
  • Follow standard operating procedures and company maintenance processes appropriate to the role.

On occasion the role may require:

  • Shift working to meet tidal constraints.
  • Assisting Field Team with Maintenance and servicing of USVs
  • Input into XOCEAN research and development of marine systems.

§ Being responsible for training other team members to the required standards, including coaching and mentoring of others.

Requirements: Essential Skills / Attributes and Experience

  • Relevant marine experience, operating small craft or commercial qualifications.
  • Hold full clean driving licence
  • Good time keeping and excellent organisational skills.
  • Ability to adhere to strict health and safety guidelines.
  • Positive and proactive characteristics with a keen attention to detail.

Desirable Experience

  • BE or higher classification drivers’ licence.
  • EDH, BOISET, Yacht Master or similar qualifications
  • STCW certificates
  • Marine maintenance experience i.e. servicing small marine engines, hull repairs/ cleaning, general boat maintenance.
  • Fiberglass polishing and detailing experience
