Over Horizon Bathymetric Survey
During October & November XOCEAN successfully completed demonstrations of our USV’s over the horizon bathymetric survey capability.
Surveys were performed in Carlingford Lough and the Irish Sea, controlled over a satellite internet connection by a team of trained USV Pilots in XOCEAN’s operations centre. XOCEAN’s XO-450 has been demonstrated to be a robust platform for multibeam echo sounder surveys.
XOCEAN have published a White Paper in partnership with Kongsberg Maritime and Valeport detailing the integration, operation and results from our recent bathymetric survey demonstrations.

Bathymetric Survey in Lough Neagh
XOCEAN completed a survey in Lough Neagh, Northern Ireland during November using an Edgetech 6205s combined bathymetry and side scan sonar. Position and attitude information was provided by an Applanix Wavemaster II GNSS INS and sound velocity casts were performed using a Valeport Swift SVP. The USV was operated remotely from XOCEAN’s operations centre. Data from the survey will be post-processed using Qimera from QPS, preliminary results are shown below.
